Welcome to our cosy Lakeland stone cottage for 2 adults plus 1 child (and can also fit in a cot) plus doggies. The cottage opened in 2019 after 2 years of renovation, converting it from a farm outbuilding. We are within the Lake District National Park, on the west coast, just south of Ravenglass (LA19 5YA). There are both beautiful mountain and sea views and we are surrounded by fields, with nothing between the cottage and the sea apart from a couple of fields and occasional sheep. Walk around the corner in 6 or 7 minutes to a spectacular dog friendly, usually empty beach. It's very peaceful and secluded, with just the owner as neighbour (me, Carole and my two dogs!)
The cottage is warm, spacious and beautifully decorated with lots of charming features, like stone walls and beams and lovely lamps. There is a large lounge/diner with a 4 seater dining area, comfy sofa and log burner, a separate well-stocked kitchen with all essentials provided (like tea, coffee, condiments etc), a shower room/loo and one large bedroom, with a standard double bed plus space to put up an additional single bed. For those cosy evenings there are books, DVDs, games and puzzles. There are also many walking books and maps to assist you in planning your adventures. Outside there is a huge shared enclosed garden and additional totally private rear garden terrace and side seating area. In total there are 4 different sitting areas to enjoy the 360° views. We also provide a delicious welcome pack, with essentials all locally sourced and there are usually additional complimentary treats too.
We are spoiled for choice with great pubs and cafes nearby and our local, The Brown Cow is only 5 minutes drive away. There are loads of walks, biking, sailing, wild swimming and fishing on the doorstep and a car is desirable although not essential as we are only a 15/20 mins walk to the nearest rail station (Bootle, Cumbria) which is on the famous Cumbrian coastal ine. There are lots of things for kids to do too, just ask and I can email a list of walks and things to do! For the most competitive rates by booking directly with me.
Our dog policy: The cottage is limited by space rather than rigid rules on numbers. We welcome up to 4 medium sized well behaved dogs and possibly more if you have smaller dogs. We would like you to use your judgement as to whether you will have enough room for an enjoyable holiday. Dogs are welcome everywhere in the cottage apart from the bedroom and we have a dog gate, however in certain circumstances we could make exceptions, if you get in touch. Please keep doggies off the chairs, kitchen bench etc, but dogs are welcome to snuggle on the sofa, with a blanket. There is also a separate bin outside on the fence for the dog poo.
